Spring Open Training

OPEN TRAINING | 9th of April – 30th of May 2012

The members of 77 STOLEN FISH are happy to invite you to their regular training. Mondays from 11:00 to 12:30 @ K77

(Open studio hours at K77 start at 9:00, so we will begin warming up together at 10:30 if you want to join)

In this ongoing weekly training, we will gather the Fish’s various backgrounds, modalities and approaches to train and research moving together: what it means to be honest and present in a group.

We will draw from and combine elements of: Release Technique, Contact Improvisation, View Points, as well as other some other movement and improvisation approaches.

We will train our consciousness of our individual centers and weight, learning to relax in our movement and better listen to what our own bodies need. This will include exercises, floor work, and some choreographic sequences. We will build off of this center work to find connections with each other in all moments of collaboration: physical, spatial and emotional. Working on our softness, sensitivity and listening with our bodies, we will exercise our sense of openness and play. In addition, we will turn our heightened sensitivity to the world around us, in order to sharpen our group and spatial awareness as performers and our sense of timing and composition as creators.

The training is open to actors, dancers, performance artists and anyone interested in movement research.

Trainings cost 4 € per session.

Winter Open Training

OPEN TRAINING | 15 Nov 2011 – 07 Dec 2011

The members of 77 STOLEN FISH are happy to invite you to their regular training.
Monday – Tuesday – Wednesday – Friday from 10:00 to 11:30
Thursday from 13:00 to 14:30

In this new session we will focus on:

Release Technique
We will work to gain consciousness of our centre as a source of energy in order to use the minimum muscular strength needed to dance. We will investigate how we can dance( with the right effort and awareness ) using the floor, air and space in all its magnitude.
Dates: 16/18/21/23/25 of November

Laban Analysis
We will work on Laban’s theory of effort and shape exploring its four main categories (body, effort, shape and space) in order to identify our patterns of movement that signify cultural and individual styles. We will try to become conscious of our points of strength, weaknesses and of the way our movement affects our surroundings (space and people).
Dates: 29 November and 6 of December

Hip Hop 
With basic steps and moves of the different styles of Hip Hop (Newstyle, Popping, Locking, Housedance) we’ll warm up, loosen up the body and build strength. We will also practice some rhythmic exercises to improve our sense of rhythm in dancing. Throughout the training we will learn how to control the flow of energy and determine the aesthetics of our movements. We’ll work on our personal style by having fun with choreography as well as moments of freestyle.
Dates: 28/30 of November and 2/5/7 of December

Viewpoints
We will break down our awareness of space and time into nine compositional elements (spatial relationship, topography/floor plan, architecture, shape, gesture, duration, repetition, tempo, kinesthetic response). Focusing on these components one by one, through improvisations and exercises that isolate and combine them, we will attempt to move toward our simpler humbler selves on stage. Through identifying, understanding and practicing working with the view points, we will sharpen our group and spatial awareness as performers and our sense of timing and composition as creators. 

The training is open to actors, dancers, performance artists and and anyone interested in movement research.

Autumn Open Training

OPEN TRAINING | Sept 2011 
In these 8 days we will work to regain contact with our entire body, so that it can resonate in space with as much precision and harmony as a musical instrument. We will try to awake a certain state of receptivity that enables us to respond quickly and honestly to our surroundings. This openness allows for an ongoing, dynamic tension within oneself, between players and with viewers, which is necessary to become and remain present in the scene.

Each day of training will consist two parts, one movement and one improv:
During the first 4 days we will work on principals of Release Technique (the phase of movement) and Viewpoints (the phase of improv).

For the last 4 days we will work on principals of Contact Improvisation and Laban Analysis (the phase of movement). So, we will work on improv with the idea that “ you can’t make a mistake, because it’s like drumming: if you miss a beat, you create another ”. We will work on breaking our habits using the gaps – those moments of suspension where you lose yourself – as sources of unexpected and “original” material coming from the current moment and outside our usual frame of reference.

The training is open to actors, dancers, performance artists of all levels and anyone open to movement research.
